blogging quirks

By checking my profile on new-improved Blogger, I saw the number increasing....there must be people reading this! But no, I figured out that it was counting me each time I looked at my own profile. An article in yesterday's paper claimed that one could earn 39K per year just by blogging. Yeah, right. No commute in winter weather, no toxic co-workers, no crazy boss, no boring cubicle. Just wake up at noon and write random thoughts for a few minutes and then take the rest of the day off. It's odd that the article didn't give any contact information so I could start my blogging career and make big bucks.

so far, so good....

The new-improved Blogger let me sign on after only 3 or 4 attempts! And mysteriously, my profile said that I was 250 years old. I have a milestone birthday coming up, but it's not that bad!

unwillingly updated

It seems that now I have no option but to change over to the new-improved version of Blogger. So we'll see how it goes....I've read other people's blogs that imply it may be new but definitely not improved.

I'm getting to the age where I can't cope with constant change. Long ago, in my youth, I had a much older friend who just could not deal with new technology. CD players, VCRs, cable TV, telephone answering machines-she could not tolerate any of it. When the lab we worked at went to a computer-based data management system, she became extremely stressed. At the time, I didn't understand. This person had lived through the Great Depression and WWII, but she couldn't cope with what I thought was simple technology. Now I understand. I've purchased the same music over and over again, on LP records, 8-tracks, cassettes, and CDs. I'm not paying to download an MP3 file that will replaced by some other format next week. They don't make music like they used to anyway. I've purchased movies on Beta, VHS and now DVD. Now there's talk of switching everything to Blu-Ray disc. Well, count me out. They don't make movies like they used to anyway.

This year I will have a Dreaded Milestone Birthday. So I have earned the right to rant.
