a bad omen?

My husband and I went kayaking the other day. Immediately after launching, we saw a group of turkey vultures roosting nearby and watching us. They are magnificent birds, but I couldn't help but wonder if this was a bad omen.

They had to find their meal somewhere else. We exited the water four hours later, tired but still alive.
